Hi friends!! I’m sure most of you are aware of my diabetic cat by this point in time.
Her name is Gizzmo, and she’s 16 years old.
And I really need your help, so here’s some quick backstory.
Gizzy has been a part of my life since I was 5 years old. We have cried together many times, played, and bonded. She’s helped me while no one in this household ever has. She’s extremely important to me.
Last March/April I noticed her tummy swelling, and her getting sluggish, and it worried me. When I voiced my concerns my grandparents did not care, telling me that she was old and that it’s ‘her time,’ and they did not even want to bother bringing her to the vet to see what the problem could be.
A few weeks of freaking out, crying, fundraising, and asking one of my lovely partners for help, I was able to get Gizzy to the vet, and a very intensive and scary day full of bloodwork and xrays and enemas later, it turns out Gizzy’s diabetic.
She’s been on insulin and special food, and a diet with pumpkin added for extra fiber ever since.
She’s been doing great, aside from the fact she had a seizure pretty recently, which shook me up pretty badly, but I’ve been taking care of it and being extra careful with my baby. Disappointingly, the vet has been failing me via not returning my phone calls, and calling them on my own is hard enough due to my anxiety and paranoia.
She was supposed to get her teeth cleaned soon, but I’m nervous about that, and don’t know how ridiculous the price is going to be if they say, have to remove some of her teeth.
I have a lot of problems that make it very hard for me to function in ‘everyday society’ and I already get help so I can afford to feed myself. I DO have a part-time job that I love and have kept for over a year, but it sadly does not make enough money for me, let alone the special needs of my cat that has no one willing to take care of her but me.
If you can send some money my way or at least signal boost this post once a day or something, it’d be really appreciated. My paypal email is AuriceLynn@gmail.com
I only have 110 dollars around for her right now, and I need that for testing her blood sugar levels when I do actually get to have her teeth cleaned. I need to go buy food for her right now, and that’s expensive. I haven’t been able to get the wet food she likes either, which helps her go to the bathroom easier.
Food is $26 monthly (Plus more if I get her the wet food I want to to make life easier for her)
Insulin is ~$30 every 3 months
Her sharps are $12 a pack
Pumpkin isn’t expensive but she goes through it fast so it adds up quickly each month.
I also never know what health problems might arise that need attention and cost money, since I have to pay my vet upfront.
